🎓 AML/CTF Training

Find your AUSTRAC-aligned
training provider.

Staff training is a legal requirement under Tranche 2. Complete an approved AML/CTF course, get your certificate, and upload it directly to SimpleAML.

The obligation

Why training is mandatory.

Under the AML/CTF Act, all reporting entities must ensure relevant staff are appropriately trained before providing designated services. It's not optional — it's a condition of enrolment.

AUSTRAC requirement: All staff involved in providing designated services, detecting suspicious matters, or managing AML/CTF compliance must complete training before 1 July 2026 — and annually thereafter. Failure to maintain training records is a breach of your AML/CTF program obligations.

AUSTRAC's minimum training requirements

Your AML/CTF training program must be documented in your policy and cover the following topics for all relevant staff.

🏦
ML/TF/PF awareness
What money laundering, terrorism financing and proliferation financing look like in practice.
👤
Customer due diligence
How to identify clients, verify identity using DVS, screen for PEP and sanctions, and assess risk.
🚨
Reporting obligations
When and how to file Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and Threshold Transaction Reports (TTRs).
🤐
Tipping-off prohibition
The legal prohibition on disclosing to a client that an SMR has been or may be filed against them.
🌍
High-risk jurisdictions
FATF high-risk countries, DFAT sanctions list, and how to apply enhanced CDD for international clients.
📋
Your firm's AML/CTF program
Staff must be trained on your specific policies, procedures and designated services — not just generic AML concepts.
